F 2 F Blogging Event held at Froggy’s on March 11

Thanks to all who attended the social gathering called F 2 F Northfield during Happy Hour and beyond at the pub on March 11. The event was designed for bloggers, contributors to blogs and others who wanted to meet face to face (F 2 F). It was a success so we plan to do it again on May 20, in the party room, 4-6 p.m. Happy Hour and beyond. Everyone welcome!

St. Olaf’s Manitou Messenger had a story entitled, “City Bloggers Go Toe to Toe,” in the March 21 issue about that first meeting. Opinions editor Tim Rehborg and photographer Adam Ludvigson attended the event and interviewed participants about the blogosphere community of Northfield. The article referred to it as an “F 2 F (Frog to Frog)” meeting—perhaps we will have to adopt that as the new “Face to Face” name!

St. Patrick’s Day Party at Froggy Bottoms: Photos Galore!

Pictured above is the 2008 St. Patrick’s Day parade grand marshal Mary Jo Feehan-Flockhart, with Kevin O’Connell to the left and her husband Ian Douglas Flockhart on the right (in a kilt, celebrating his own Scottish ancestry). Mary Jo was installed at a luncheon on March 15 at Froggy Bottoms, overseen by names such as Bohnhoff, O’Connell and O’Hvistendahl. Mary Jo of Northfield is a native of Rapid City, S.D.,and is a pharmacist with Irish ancestry on both sides of her family: the Feehans of Mallow in County Cork on her father’s side and the Dolphin clan of County Sligo on her mother’s side. Oh, and she has had two Irish wolfhounds. Mary Jo wants you to know of the “warmth, geniality and importance of family” of the Irish.

The photos continue with the St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday, March 15, at Froggy Bottoms, highlighted by all the finery and greenery of staff and patrons and by Shannon Mills’ Open Mic karaoke, featuring “The Wheel of Torture.”
